Herman lives next door to Wesley's Chapel, Trigg, Virginia.  He is a great conversationalist and loves to talk about his family.  He knew a story about my father, John Robert Stafford (J.R. Stafford), that he shared with me.  J.R. as a young man loved animals and had trained his dog to ride on the running board of his Model "T" Ford.  Herman told me that it was a sight to see J.R. ride up and down the road with that German Shepard on the running board of the car.  He also told me that he went to school with my father.  My father's family soon after this time moved to Pulaski, Virginia.  Herman said that he did not remember seeing him since that time.
