I have info on family members, mostly from Ohio if you
want it. I hope this filled in some blanks for you.
There has always been "hear say" that Thomas was our
great great granddad, but I have found no proof of this
at all. There are absolutely no records that tell who
Elizabeth was married to. Do you have proof of your
Thomas? If so, that is the info I've been looking for
for twenty years! (But if you got it from Olive Smith's
book, it was hear say, info given by my father and not
documented info.) She has many things wrong in her
book. I wrote her with info of Robert's other wives
and she refused it saying her line was correct and
complete!
Thank you for writing. I hope that you can make this
out. Write again.

Early 1920s, Dad and I went to see a Mrs. Miller who lived
in a big white house just off N. Main (near Library). She
told us about Carrie dying from one of those diseases like
typhoid. She had been a high school graduate. Dad had been
raised in a house on Main St. which was later torn down for
a theater. I beleive the grandfather's tin shop was across the
street.
Dad had no middle initial. The father James remarried soon
and I believe there were 3 or 4 boys and one girl (Irwin who
sheriff and Louis). Dad and Frank lived with relatives as
stepmother did not want them including Frank and Mary Vance.
Finally, the grandfather took them in with his sister Minerva
who was the first librarian of the Urbana Library. We gave a
gold framed picture of her to the Library when Mother moved
west when Aunty Eff died.
Dad had to leave school around age 12 to support Grandfather.
He worked in a shoe store, also a country school teacher. In
spite of not too much formal education, Dad was a scholar.
